Arrest in Bonn-Mehlem : 23-year-old beats up girlfriend on street

Police arrested a 23-year-old man in Bonn-Mehlem on Sunday who is said to have brutally beaten his girlfriend in front of police. He can now expect a prison sentence of several years.

A 23-year-old man is said to have brutally beaten his 21-year-old girlfriend on Mainzer Straße in Bonn-Mehlem on Sunday. Police said on Monday that the two were on Mainzer Straße at around 4.10pm when they got into an argument. The 23-year-old is alleged to have then hit his girlfriend, who is two years younger, several times in the head with his fist. Police officers from the Bonn Criminal Police saw the incident, overpowered the 23-year-old and arrested him.

The man is said to have put up strong resistance and injured two officers. When checking his personal details, the officers found he was already being sought by police. In addition to a pre-trial warrant for serious robbery, he was also being sought because he had been sentenced to four years and three months imprisonment for the same alleged offence but had not yet been detained.

The 23-year-old was arrested and taken to prison. Investigations against him are ongoing. According to GA information, the 23-year-old is not part of the group of suspects in the Niklas case. The 21-year-old girlfriend was slightly injured in the attack.
